Future Location Energy Coast: West Coast of Schleswig-Holstein brings a breath of fresh air to EXPO REAL in Munich.

Joining forces, exploiting synergies and pushing ahead with the expansion of renewable energies at full speed - that is the declared aim of the "Energy Coast". From October 4 to 6, the innovation platform and umbrella brand of Schleswig-Holstein's West Coast as a location of the future will present itself at EXPO REAL in Munich - and bring a breath of fresh air to the leading trade fair for real estate and investment: "Anyone who wants to do business sustainably in the long term cannot get around real green energy. Companies, investors, scientists, creative minds and professionals from all over Germany and Europe find a home on the Energy Coast. At the location, they benefit from cross-sector partnerships, promising opportunities and a broad-based, hands-on scene," says Florian Lorenzen, Chairman of the West Coast Regional Cooperation and District Administrator of the Nordfriesland district.

The Energy Coast will be showing what this looks like at EXPO REAL at the Schleswig-Holstein booth in Hall B2.330. Included: numerous forward-looking projects and an Energy Coast Talk with Julia Carstens, the new Schleswig-Holstein State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Labor, Technology and Tourism. "We are working hard on the Energy Coast to build and establish a holistic sustainable energy system. This ranges from the generation of genuine green energy to its conversion into heat, electricity and hydrogen, and its use in the mobility and business sectors," explains Dr. Matthias Hüppauff, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Nordfriesland mbH, adding, "Whether it's sustainable neighborhoods, a data center powered by green electricity or hydrogen buses in local public transport - on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein, the future is already present."

Area in demand: energy coast attracts companies
According to the report, regenerative energy is the basis for drive and innovative spirit on the Energy Coast. "Don't talk, do!" is the motto, as is also shown by the numerous companies that have settled here. In March of this year, for example, Northvolt, a Swedish producer of lithium-ion batteries for electric cars, announced its intention to build a battery gigafactory in Heide. With an annual potential production capacity of 60 GWh, Northvolt Three aims to supply the European market with sustainably produced lithium-ion batteries from the Energy Coast starting in 2025 and create around 3,000 new jobs. "A prerequisite for the settlement of such forward-looking companies is the support of the region, which consistently picks up all players around renewable energies with its targeted policy, research and promotion. The red carpet is rolled out for them on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein in the service of the energy turnaround," says Kirsten Voss, project and marketing manager of the "Energy Coast". Even if more and more visionaries and doers are drawn to the Energy Coast, there are still vacant commercial spaces. Visitors to EXPO REAL can see where these are located at a touch table at the Schleswig-Holstein stand - including detailed information on the sites.

State Secretary Carstens talks at the Energieküste booth.
"What does the legislature need to do to implement the hydrogen strategy and the creation of new jobs quickly and sustainably?" This fundamental question will be explored by the Energieküste Talk on October 5, starting at 1:00 p.m. in the event area of the Schleswig-Holstein joint booth. In the talk round Kirsten Voss welcomes the Schleswig-Holstein State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Labor, Technology and Tourism, Julia Carstens. Other panelists include Dr. Matthias Hüppauff, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Nordfriesland mbH, Dr. Hinrich Habeck, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung und Technologietransfer Schleswig-Holstein GmbH and Dr. Jesko Dahlmann (Entwicklungsgesellschaft Westholstein mbH), responsible for the economic development of the largest industrial area in Schleswig-Holstein - the ChemCoast Park Brunsbüttel.

About the Energieküste

The Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast is Germany's future location for renewable energies. Experts, researchers, creative minds and energy enthusiasts are shaping a highly innovative energy system from existing resources here. To bundle their know-how, the districts of North Frisia, Dithmarschen, Steinburg and Pinneberg founded the umbrella brand and platform "Energieküste". The aim of the districts, which have joined together to form the “Regionale Kooperation Westküste” and are regarded as incubators for innovations in the field of renewable energies, is to strengthen the existing economy, attract new companies and skilled workers and create a concise image for the business location. The "Energieküste" is financed with funds from the “Regionale Kooperation Westküste” budget, supported by the state programme Economy, and the four districts of the “Regionale Kooperation Westküste”
