‘Off we go!’ - AquaVentus supports timely tendering for the expansion of offshore electrolysis

The AquaVentus Promotion Association supports and calls for the prompt tendering and auctioning of the first offshore wind-hydrogen areas in the North Sea. According to the German government's plans, the starting point is the North Sea area SEN-1 off the island of Helgoland. AquaVentus, a pioneering partner of Energieküste, wants to get off to a flying start on the 100 square kilometres of water and build the first offshore wind-hydrogen farm with a production capacity for green hydrogen of one gigawatt. From here, the green hydrogen produced on the high seas will be transported directly to the mainland via the AquaDuctus pipeline as part of the hydrogen core network.

Waiting for the go-ahead: ‘We need to get started!’
In order for this to succeed and for AquaVentus to finally unleash its full innovative power, CEO Jörg Singer called for a prompt tender for SEN-1 during the presentation of a new Project Showcast film: ‘We need suitable areas and an efficient auction design for the production of green hydrogen in the North Sea. With the tender for the SEN-1 area, the Federal Ministry of Economics has a unique opportunity to ensure both and to ensure innovation and security of supply.’ However, this must be done as quickly as possible and with sufficient predictability for all parties involved, Singer continued, and called on the federal government to ‘get to work and organise the tender in such a way that efficient and economically sustainable production of green hydrogen at sea is made possible.’

A utopia becomes reality: the new AquaVentus film

AquaVentus supports a timely tender for the expansion of offshore electrolysis
The Project Showcast film launched at the end of January impressively demonstrates that the AquaVentus Promotion Association is in a position to establish a smoothly functioning hydrogen market in the North Sea, including supply chains. ‘Three years ago, we started with a handful of utopians, now we are more than 100 high-performance companies, organisations and research institutes along the entire value chain,’ says Jörg Singer enthusiastically. We think: ‘Syn-Energy at it's best!’
