The energy transition remains in focus
Energieküste partners optimistic at the Hannover Messe
‘We are very far ahead in research and development in Schleswig-Holstein and Germany,’ said Prof Dr Oliver Opel, Director of ITE (Institute for the Transformation of the Energy System), West Coast University of Applied Sciences, at the ENERGIEKÜSTE TALK at Hannover Messe 2025 on the first day of the trade fair. And summarised thereby the mood among the energy transition makers. Despite these uncertain times, the Energieküste partners are working tirelessly on the transformation.
Hydrogen was one of the focal points at the international industrial trade fair, which attracted a good 127,000 visitors from 150 countries. Around 300 companies presented their developments. Green H2 was also a central topic of the Energieküste at the Schleswig-Holstein joint stand. The first highlight on the first day of the trade fair, the talk ‘Pioneers in dealing with innovations - how politics, academia and industry can work together’, focussed on the future of AquaVentus, among other things.
With 0.1% of the KTF, pilot plants in the North Sea could make decisive progress for offshore H2 production.
Green hydrogen is also an important building block in the transformation of the ChemCoast Park in Brunsbüttel. Four experts discussed their visions for Schleswig-Holstein's largest industrial area with State Secretary Joschka Knuth at the ENERGIEKÜSTE TALK on the second day of the trade fair. Consensus: The industrial transformation will be complete by 2040.
In 15 years, we have managed to build a showpiece where climate neutrality works economically and technically.
The ‘AquaVentus triple jump’, the current status and the project requirements were presented on Wednesday by Dr Benjamin Baur, capital city representative of Energieküste partner AquaVentus e.V. European cooperation is important for validating offshore electrolysis technology under real conditions in order to ensure scalability and reliability.
Joint successful pilot projects will attract further investment and ultimately strengthen Europe's leadership in offshore hydrogen production.
The country needs many new minds for the energy transition. As does the Energieküste skilled labour campaign Ready. Charged. Career!, the FEMWORX Career Congress focussed on girls and women in STEM professions on the last two days of the trade fair. The Career Congress For Women In Industry offered a stimulating platform with many international female experts.
Exciting days - HANNOVER MESSE was a complete success for Energieküste. Many visitors to the stand, many new impressions and inspirations as well as an energetic exchange.
