Energieküste convinces with sustainability:

High demand for space at EXPO REAL 2024

Climate-neutral business with 100% real green energy is the trend - the interest in the Energieküste at EXPO REAL 2024 in Munich was correspondingly high. With 1,778 exhibitors from 34 countries, the international trade fair for real estate and investment welcomed 40,000 visitors from 75 countries and regions from 7th to 9th October.

Sustainable settlements and innovative projects along the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein were the central themes of the Energieküste - not forgetting the work-life balance, which is one of the many advantages of the location. Sustainability and innovative solutions for decarbonisation have arrived in the property and investment sector, as documented not least by the new platform of the trade fair ‘Transform & Beyond’.

As a pioneer in the energy transition, many visitors were attracted to the Energieküste stand: there was a high demand for space in Schleswig-Holstein in the context of energy generation or energy use, such as solar, battery storage or data centres. Large-scale settlements such as Northvolt in Heide or the cement manufacturer HOLCIM, which is building one of the world's first climate-neutral cement plants in Lägerdorf by 2028, are recent evidence of the region's innovative strength and green power.

Good discussions with Julia Carstens

On the very first day, the Schleswig-Holstein stand was delighted to receive a visit from Julia Carstens, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Labour, Technology and Tourism of the State of Schleswig-Holstein. Energieküste took the opportunity to present the new skilled labour campaign READY. CHARGED. CAREER! campaign to the guest from Kiel.

The topic of skilled labour is very important for the industry.
Julia Carstens, State Secretary MWVATT

She is convinced that a lot can be achieved together on the west coast, Julia Carstens continued.

Together for a sustainable future

Northern lights strong together in Bavaria: The economic development agencies within the Hamburg metropolitan region, including the Neumünster Business Agency, the Westholstein Development Agency, the Stormann District Economic Development Agency and the WEP Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft des Kreises Pinneberg mbH, signed at the trade fair the agreement on further cooperation between all companies.

EXPO REAL offered great opportunities for inspiring discussions, intensive dialogue and valuable networking. Managing Director Dr Harald G. Schroers, WEP: ‘At this year's Expo Real, I observed the trend that the Energieküste is attracting more and more interest from companies that benefit from green energy, such as data centres.’

The Energieküste was represented by organisations including egw Entwicklungsgesellschaft Westholstein, WEP Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft des Kreises Pinneberg, WFG Wirtschaftsförderung Nordfriesland and local authorities from the districts of Dithmarschen, Steinburg and Pinneberg. Together with Nordgate, Hanse Belt and Kiel Region, they presented the sustainable advantages of Schleswig-Holstein, among other things.

‘Meeting investors and decision-makers, maintaining and expanding networks within the wide-ranging property industry, gathering suggestions and ideas, but above all presenting the opportunities for locating on the Energieküste - our days at EXPO REAL 2024 were once again packed to the brim,’ said Susanne Heyn, Head of Marketing and Communication at WEP
