With power for the Energieküste

The Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast is Germany's future location for renewable energies. Experts, researchers, creative minds and energy enthusiasts are shaping a highly innovative energy system from existing resources here. They bundle their know-how under the umbrella brand "Energieküste".

"From the first wind turbine to green hydrogen, the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein has always played a pioneering role in renewable energies. Now we need to further strengthen this economic sector, attract new companies, recruit skilled workers and establish a concise image for the Energieküste throughout Germany and Europe," says Kirsten Voss, who joined the Energieküste team as project and marketing manager in April this year. The communications and marketing expert, who brings in her 15 years of industry knowledge as PR agency managing director, knows what she is talking about: "In the districts of North Frisia, Dithmarschen, Steinburg and Pinneberg, around 17,000 gigawatt hours of 'green electricity' are produced every year. We want to massively expand this unique potential for a climate-neutral future and make it known beyond the region's borders."

Research, development and innovation on the Energieküste

On the website www.energiekueste.eu, the social networks Twitter and LinkedIn and at trade fairs and events, interested parties can find out more about the umbrella brand and the energy, business and research location on the coast. The "Energieküste" will make its next appearance at the wind energy web conference windWERT on 31. August. This will be followed by the hydrogen conference H2.0 on 13. September in Husum, the HUSUM Wind trade fair from 14. to 16. September and Expo Real from 11. to 13. October in Munich. Here Kirsten Voss and her colleagues will present some of the leading Energieküste projects and players. For example, the eFarm in North Frisia, an initiative that produces hydrogen with electricity from citizen energy projects and makes it usable for fuel cell buses in local public transport, or the AquaVentus projects on Helgoland and the WESTKÜSTE100 real-world laboratory. The Itzehoer company Customcells, the world's leading developer of lithium-ion battery cells, and the Helgoland Test Centre for Maritime Technologies are also involved. The "Energieküste" is financed with funds from the “Regionale Kooperation Westküste” budget, supported by the state programme Economy, and the four districts of the “Regionale Kooperation Westküste”.
