High-Profile Visit to the Energy Coast
Chancellor Friedrich Merz Visits GP JOULE
On 3 November, Chancellor Friedrich Merz's inaugural visit to Schleswig-Holstein led him directly to the Energy Coast. More precisely, to Energy Coast pioneer company GP JOULE in Reussenköge in North Frisia. Here, Friedrich Merz was given a tour by GP JOULE CEO Ove Petersen, learning about the consistent use of renewable energies and the energy supply of the future. Our Chancellor was accompanied by Schleswig-Holstein Minister-President Daniel Günther, Schleswig-Holstein Energy Transition Minister Tobias Goldschmidt, and Claus Ruhe Madsen, Minister for Economic Affairs in Schleswig-Holstein.
The jointly planned visit to GP JOULE is a clear commitment to renewable energies! We need secure, reliable energy generation in Germany – and this company is contributing to making that possible.
At the headquarters of the renewable energy company, Friedrich Merz, Daniel Günther and his two state ministers were shown that independent, renewable and affordable energy supply in industry, households and transport is already possible today. This is proven by numerous energy projects successfully implemented by GP JOULE: As an important partner of the Energy Coast, GP JOULE is active in all areas of the energy value chain, advises companies and municipalities, designs and builds wind and solar farms, heating networks, charging infrastructure and hydrogen production facilities – and also takes care of the secure and economical operation of all these installations.
Schleswig-Holstein has long been not just a pioneer in the expansion of renewables, but shows that the energy transition is a real industrial policy opportunity.
In Schleswig-Holstein, said Daniel Günther, a new industrial strength is growing, supported by innovative power and entrepreneurial courage. For this success to continue, reliable framework conditions, planning security and more speed in approval procedures are needed from the federal government.
The Schleswig-Holstein Minister-President received support in his argument from Ove Petersen:
Electricity from wind and sun is not only the cheapest form of energy generation, but the key to a secure, self-sufficient energy supply in Germany.
What Germany needs, Ove Petersen continued, is a modern, smart system of grid expansion, storage and sector coupling, so that households and businesses can finally derive economic benefit from the affordable new energies.
After the visit to GP JOULE, the Chancellor continued to Husum, where he participated in a meeting of the Schleswig-Holstein state government, among other things.
